Don Levy

Don Levy has been a part of the local poetry community since the old QE2 days. He has been a fixture and one of the most recognizable faces in the local arts scene. Don is another poet who has been on the Albany Poets site since the beginning and we are glad that he is sharing more of his work with us.

Don Levy has been published in Tenzone, Smashing Icons, and Think 3 and has read in such venues as The Albany Public Library, The Poets in the Park Series, Arthur’s Market, The Albany Art Gallery, Cafe Web, and The Woodstock Poetry Society. His work as also been featured on the Hidden City web site as well as Volume, a CD of 27 Albany area poets. He was one of the editors of OpenMic: The Albany Anthology and was the coordinator of the Gallery Poetry Society reading series at the Albany Art Gallery.

Currently Don is the host of the Live From The Living Room open mic series at the Pride Center of the Capital Region on the second Wednesday of each month.

At the end of this month we will be holding a very special edition of Poets Speak Loud as we present the Don Levy Celebrity Roast hosted by none other than Mary Panza. More information on that event is coming soon.

Don’s new poems on the site are Poem for Bigots, Whiteboy, and How Can You Have Too Many Friends?
