We return to McGeary’s on Monday, June 30 for the first Poets Speak Loud of the summer. This month we are very happy to welcome Samson Dikeman and Pat Irish as our featured readers.
Samson Dikeman is a poet born and raised in Altamont, NY. He has spent the last three years living in Albany while studying to get his MFA in Creative Writing at The College of Saint Rose. He’s been a frequent slammer at Albany Poets’ Nitty Gritty Slam and loves running, karaoke, and long roadtrips.
Pat Irish wrote his rock opera The Front Desk in 2011. It is this story of the events taking place at and around the front desk of a hotel. There are 24 songs, each representing an hour of the day. Pat and Nick Bisanz performed part of the piece at the 2014 Albany Word Fest Music and Poetry Showcase at Pauly’s back in April. Pat will do his spoken word version of the opera so you can hear how it all plays out.
Poets Speak Loud is Albany Poets’ long-running monthly open mic for poetry and spoken word with a featured poet hosted by local poet Mary Panza at McGeary’s (4 Clinton Square) in downtown Albany on the last Monday of each and every month.
Sign-up for the open mic is 7:00pm, we start around 8pm.
