The winners & other entrants in the “Dear Herman” writing contest will give a reading of their work on Saturday, October 12, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in honor of Herman Melville’s 200th birthday this year. The reading will be held at the Melville House, #2 114th Street (between 1st & 2nd Avenues) in the Lansingburgh section of Troy, NY.
The reading is sponsored by the Lansingburgh Historical Society with funds from the Hudson Valley Writers Guild, & coordination by the co-hosts of 2nd Sunday @ 2 Open Mic for Poetry and Prose.
The winners of the contest are Susan Carroll Jewel, Tom Corrado, Mark W. O’Brien, and Dianne Sefcik. Others who submitted their work to the contest are also invited to read.
There will be on-street parking available. The general public and community are invited to attend & a donation of $5 to the Lansingburgh Historical Society is greatly appreciated.
The reading will take place on the porch of the Melville House, weather permitting, or inside the first-floor museum, if there is inclement weather. If the weather is favorable, please bring a chair or a blanket, as authors will read from the porch and the public will sit on the lawn.
