Digitally Distracted with Dr. Thomas Kersting at the Voorheesville Central School District’s Lydia C. Tobler Performing Arts Center
We see it everywhere: at the park, in restaurants, and inside our homes and cars – children and teens connected to handheld devices and disconnected from the real world around them. According to the latest research, the average 13-year-old spends 8 hours per day, 7 days a week, glued to a screen. This is problematic, but for every problem, there is a solution.
Join Dr. Thomas Kersting, psychotherapist, nationally recognized speaker, author, and school counselor for an interactive workshop where he will explore the research about the device-dependent world our children live in and how it is affecting their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. According to this research, there is a war going on for the attention of our children, but it is not too late to make the necessary positive changes. Dr. Kersting will provide strategies for families to work together to reduce screen time and reset their digital diet in order to reconnect.
For adults, professionals, parents of any age child, and for students in grades 5 and up with their parent/caregiver.
