“Two prize-winning Hungarian dames will read from their new books: Michele Battiste, Waiting for the Wreck to Burn, winner of the Louise Bogan Prize from Trio House Press, and Barbara Ungar, Save Our Ship, winner of the Snyder Prize from Ashland Poetry Press.
Michele Battiste is a former New York State resident and Open Door staff member. Her poems have appeared in numerous publications, including the American Poetry Review. A finalist for the National Poetry Series, she has received recognition from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Center for the American West. She now lives in Colorado.
Barbara Unger is a professor at the College of Saint Rose. She lives in Saratoga Springs. Her poetry books have won awards including Best Indie Poetry Books of 2015, the Gival Prize and a Hoffer Award.
